Wrth i ni ddilyn Llwybr Deiniol, yr ydym yn myfyrio ar bwysigrwydd gweddïo ac addoli. Wrth wneud hynny, gallwn ddwyn i gof esiampl Dewi Sant.
Yr oedd Dewi Sant, nawddsant Cymru, yn ddysgawdwr a phregethwr o fri, a sefydlodd ac arweiniodd y gymuned fynachaidd yng Nglyn Rhosyn, y safle lle saif Cadeirlan Tyddewi yn awr. Yr oedd yn hyrwyddo bywyd syml, gan ddweud wrth ei ddilynwyr, ‘Byddwch lawen, cadwch y ffydd a gwnewch y pethau bychain a welsoch ac a glywsoch gennyf i.’ Yr oedd yn credu fod y ffordd syml hon o fyw yn canaiatau i ni ganolbwyntio ar Dduw mewn gweddi. Wrth bregethu yng nghanol tyrfa fawr yn Synod Brefi, y chwedl yw i’r tir yr oedd yn sefyll arno godi i ffurfio bryncyn bychan, a gwelwyd colomen wen yn glanio ar ei ysgwydd.
As we follow St Deiniol’s Way, we reflect on the importance of praying and worshipping. in doing so, we call to Mind the example of St David.
St David, the patron saint of Wales, was a renowned teacher and preacher, founding and leading the monastic community in Glyn Rhosyn, on the site of which St David’s Cathedral now stands. He promoted a life of simplicity, telling his followers to ‘be joyful, and keep your faith and your creed, and do the little things that you have seen me do and heard about.’ He believed that this simple way of life allowed us to focus on God in prayer. Preaching in the middle of a large crowd at the Synod of Brefi, the ground on which he stood is reputed to have risen up to form a small hill, and a white dove was seen settling on his shoulder.
